Back to Blogging at 50: Why I’m Coming Home to the Blog
Nineteen years ago, I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and I started a blog.
There was no strategy and no Pinterest plan. I just had a lot to say and nowhere to put it. So I wrote. About motherhood, about home, about the life I was building one day at a time.
Now I’m 50, and I’m doing it again.
If you’ve been watching my “Back to Blogging at 50” videos, this is the story behind them. If you’re new here, welcome. Pour something warm. This one is personal.
Where it started
That first blog was my corner of the internet. I wrote for years about the season I was in, and a lot of women found me there. Some of them are still with me today, and I’m so grateful.
Around 2020, I started sharing my outfits on social media. That was the beginning of something new. Getting dressed with intention was helping me feel like myself again, and I wanted to share it.
Slowly, my content changed because I changed. Style. Skin. The small, everyday choices that make a life feel refined. That became my world.
Why I left
I didn’t really decide to stop blogging. Life just got full, and social media was right there in my hand.
It was fast. It was fun. And for a while, it was enough.
But somewhere along the way, I noticed something. I was creating every day, and almost none of it lasted. A post had a day, maybe two, and then it was gone. I had so much more to say than a caption could hold.
Why I came back

Turning 50 changed how I see a lot of things, including where I spend my time and my words.
I want a home online that’s actually mine. Not rented space on an app that changes the rules every month. A place where my words can stay, where you can find a post next year and it still helps you.
I want to go deeper. A 30-second video can show you an outfit. A blog post can tell you why it works, what I changed, and how to make it yours.
And honestly, I want to slow down. This is my refinement era. I’m keeping what serves me, releasing what doesn’t, and refining the rest. Blogging feels like keeping.
What’s different this time
The girl who started blogging at 31 was writing her way through a season. The woman blogging at 50 knows who she is.
This time, the blog is about all of you, the women over 40 who are ready to choose themselves:
- Effortless Style: outfits and formulas that make getting dressed easy again
- The Skin Edit: honest routines for skin that’s changing
- Soft Glam Edit: simple makeup that looks like you, just polished
- Refined Living: small habits that make an ordinary day feel beautiful
- Refining HER: the inner work, the resets, and the stories, like this one
What I’ve learned coming back

- It’s never too late to begin again. Starting over at 50 isn’t going backward. It’s choosing again, with more wisdom this time.
- Your voice gets better with age. I write with more honesty now, because I care less about being perfect.
- Slow is still growth. One post a week, written well, is better than a hundred posts I don’t remember.
- Home matters. Everything I share now points back here, because this is where I want to build.
