3 Refined November Outfits for Women Over 50

Ladies, November is here, and so is my favorite part of fall: the rich colors.

This week I wore three outfits that feel like the season to me. Each one is in my Deep Autumn colors, chocolate, olive and burgundy. Each one is easy to recreate with pieces you may already own. And none of them needed a special occasion.

Here’s how I put them together, and how you can wear them too.

1. The Chocolate Off-Shoulder Knit Maxi

This is the dress I reach for when I want to feel cozy and elegant at the same time. The wide off-the-shoulder collar frames the face and collarbones, and the bell sleeves make it feel dressed up without any effort.

How I styled it

  • Hair up in a high bun, so the neckline gets all the attention
  • Gold earrings and a red lip, nothing more
  • Simple and quiet, so the knit does the work

Wear it to: a holiday dinner, church, a gathering at home, or a slow Sunday when you simply want to feel beautiful.

Refined tip: with an off-the-shoulder neckline, skip the necklace. Your collarbones are the jewelry.

2. Olive Sweater, Camel Trousers, Brown Heels

This is my polished-casual formula for fall: a soft oversized sweater over a tailored trouser. The slouchy top and the crisp pleat balance each other, so it looks intentional, never sloppy.

The formula

  • Olive crewneck sweater, oversized with a dropped shoulder
  • Camel tailored trousers with a front crease
  • Cognac pointed-toe pumps to lengthen the leg
  • Clear aviator frames, gold earrings and a deep red lip

Wear it to: lunch with a friend, errands that deserve a little polish, a work meeting or a holiday shopping day.

Refined tip: keep your shoes close to the color of your trousers or your skin tone. It lengthens the leg, especially if you’re petite like me.

3. Burgundy and Denim

Burgundy is one of my signature colors, and this is the easiest way to wear it. A fitted asymmetric top tucked into light-wash wide-leg jeans, finished with a black belt, a structured black bag and burgundy patent pumps.

The formula

  • A fitted top in a rich color
  • High-rise wide-leg jeans
  • A belt to define the waist
  • A pointed heel that echoes the top

Wear it to: a casual dinner, a weekend outing or any day you want denim to feel elevated.

Refined tip: repeat your top color in your shoes or your lip. It makes a simple outfit look finished.
