I Didn’t Find Myself. I Refined Her.

There’s a narrative that gets passed around a lot in women’s spaces, this idea that at some point in your life, you “find yourself.” Like she’s been hiding somewhere, waiting to be discovered. Like one day you’ll turn a corner and there she’ll be, fully formed and ready.
I don’t believe that anymore.
Because I didn’t find myself. I refined her.
It Started With a Decision, Not a Destination
A few years ago, I was quietly struggling. Anxiety. Depression. The kind that doesn’t always look like what people expect, it looked like a woman who had it mostly together on the outside but was running on empty on the inside.
Prayer kept me grounded. Therapy gave me tools. But somewhere in the middle of doing the work, I discovered something unexpected: the practical, daily act of choosing myself was changing me.
Not in a dramatic, overnight way. In a slow, intentional, cup-of-tea-in-the-morning kind of way.
I started getting dressed…really dressed, every day. Not for anyone else. Just for me. I built a skincare routine that felt less like a chore and more like a ritual. I created small moments of softness in my day that calmed my nervous system when the world felt loud. Tea time. A clean, beautiful space. The right candle. Clothes that made me feel like the woman I was becoming, no, the woman I already was.
And slowly, without trying to reinvent anything, I refined her.
I Am Not a Fashion Expert. I’m Just a Woman Who Chose Herself.
Let me be clear about something: I am not a wardrobe stylist. I don’t have a fashion degree. I’m not a certified skincare specialist or a wellness guru.
I am a woman with a background in ballet and modeling who spent years understanding how clothes move, how posture changes everything, and how the way you present yourself to the world affects how you feel inside it.
I am a woman who battled anxiety and depression and found that prioritizing herself daily, her appearance, her routines, her environment, was one of the most powerful acts of self care she could practice.
I am a woman turning 50 in August who has never felt more like herself.
That’s it. That’s the qualification. And honestly? I think that’s enough.
Because the women I’m speaking to don’t need an expert. They need a mirror. They need to see someone who looks like them, lives like them, and has figured out, through real life, not a textbook, how to move through the world with elegance, intention, and ease.
What Refining HER Actually Means
Refining HER is not about fixing yourself. It’s not about healing from your past or reinventing who you are. It’s not a rebrand.
It’s a decision.
It’s the decision to take what’s already there, your taste, your sensibility, your hard won wisdom and polish it. Elevate it. Live it out loud every single day.
For me, refining HER looks like:
- A morning skincare routine that feels luxurious even when it’s simple
- A wardrobe built around elevated basics that work for my real life and my 5’2″ frame
- Tea time as a non-negotiable; not because it’s trendy, but because it genuinely calms me
- Dressing intentionally every day, even when I’m staying home
- Creating a home environment that feels beautiful and peaceful
- Choosing soft living not as an aesthetic but as a nervous system practice
None of this is about perfection. All of it is about intention.
